Deltares EN

Dutch version

Deltares - Enabling Delta LifeDeltares is an independent, institute for applied research in the field of water, subsurface and infrastructure. Throughout the world, Deltares works on smart solutions, innovations and applications for people, environment and society, with the main focus on deltas, coastal regions and river basins. Managing these densely populated and vulnerable areas is complex, which is why we work closely with governments, businesses, other research institutes and universities at home and abroad. Deltares employs over 800 people and is based in Delft and Utrecht.
Within Deltares several water related research activities take place on organisms and compounds that form a health risk. The last years’ focus was on organic pollutants, cyanobacteria, E. coli and intestinal enterococci. Relevant projects are the research ‘Monitoring biodegradation capacity of organic pollutants in the environment’ and ‘Health risks of cyanobacteria’, both executed in 2010. Current research focusses on early detection of micro-organisms by PCR.
